What if students could draw their way to better writing? What if thinking were actually embodied? And what if students could build reading comprehension through practicing mental pictures? Dual coding theory (DCT) proposes the mind processes information as both images and words. This talk will introduce and explore the basic tenants of DCT. Along the way we will touch on other science of learning topics such as cognitive load theory, retrieval practice, and interleaving. This talk is for all ages and subjects.
