Did you know? Only 50% of English words can be spelled accurately using the most common phoneme-grapheme relationships (Hanna & Hanna, 1966). What does it look like to engage upper elementary students in word study when they've mastered phoneme-grapheme relationships? Are traditional spelling and vocabulary lists still meaningful?
